As we prepare for the Easter Holidays for some, and Easter Revision for others, we can reflect on another highly active and engaging half term at ‘Chis & Sid’.
The number and variety of trips and visits organised by the staff never ceases to amaze me and I am very grateful for all the hard work that goes into making them such a great success. From the visits abroad, such as skiing in Claviere, Italy, visiting the Normandy beaches in France, the Year 10 trip to Vienna or the Classics trip to Greece, all our students behaved impeccably and were a credit to the school. We are all looking forward to next terms’ trips to Spain and Switzerland.
Closer to home, the Art Department enjoyed fish and chips whilst visiting the Turner Contemporary Gallery in Margate, and I had great pleasure in joining the Mayor of London unveiling the 4th plinth in Trafalgar Square where ‘Chis & Sid’ pupil Megan Stone did so well in the national competition. Drama visited the Peacock Theatre and Dance visited London’s Excel Exhibiton Centre and this year’s ‘Chis & Sid’ Young Musician of the Year Competition was won by Isabelle in Year 12 with an amazing and highly professional performance.
The Junior Maths Challenge Team did very well at St Olave’s and our Senior Geography students enjoyed their lecture at the Royal Geographical Society in London last month.
I wish you all a very Happy Easter and look forward to the Summer Term, particularly for the students taking their GCSE and A Level examinations. The best of luck to you all.
Mr N Walker
