Young Enterprise at Chis & Sid

This year, Chislehurst and Sidcup’s Young Enterprise team, led by Joshua Cheng, kick-started their business endeavours when they journeyed to Spitalfields Market to compete regionally against up to thirty teams in a trade fair. The trade fair took place on the 8th February in central London amidst bustling urban activity, where the team set up their stall under the watchful gaze of Mrs Everett. The team was faced with fierce competition from an array of schools from across the London boroughs and their products were judged for creativity and innovation. The judging panel consisted of ‘The Apprentice’ stars Paul Sullivan and Samuel Boateng, who patrolled the grounds in search of Britain’s next top business entrepreneurs.

At the start of the day, business was rather stagnant for the Young Enterprise teams; however lunchtime saw an influx of consumers into the market, causing business opportunity to peak. This enabled the Chis and Sid team to really gain momentum, selling approximately 10% of their stock in just one hour. By the end of the selling period, the team had totalled £80 in revenue by selling fifty units of their innovative product to the wider public. Managing Director Joshua, deemed this to be a “respectable feat” and has urged the team to continue to strive towards excellence in business.

Whilst the team did not receive any prizes during the awards ceremony, the Chis and Sid team were made the face of the Young Enterprise twitter because of their scrupulously presented stall and immaculately dressed business team. A good time was had by all, along with the richly rewarding experience of competing in such a fantastic competition.
