Chis and Sid’s successful Shoebox Appeal

Every year in the weeks and months leading up to Christmas, parents and pupils at Chis and Sid support the charity Samaritan’s Purse in their ‘Operation Christmas Child’ project. The project is designed to shine a light over the children of the world, who would otherwise be summoned to metaphorical darkness, suffering and misfortune over the festive period.
We have contributed upwards of 250 shoeboxes since 2011, but this year we collected a remarkable 498! This surpasses our previous best of 309 boxes, achieved in 2012. Assistant Head Teacher, Mr Panton is delighted and comments “this is absolutely incredible; everyone can be very proud of what we have achieved. So many boys and girls around the world will be enjoying Christmas so much more because of the generosity and effort of Chis and Sid pupils. Well done all – a tremendous effort. Thank you! ”
A special mention must be reserved for Mrs Stickland, a Chis and Sid parent, who has contributed an exceptional 150 boxes from other collection points. Her astounding effort obviously played a major role in Chis and Sid reaching the record number of 498 shoeboxes this year, so we thank her for registering her shoeboxes under the school’s name!
Our success in this initiative is a great example of the compassion the school prides itself on, and is symbolic of the character its students endeavour to portray.
500 next year? The seed has been sown…
